About Janet Biondi About Janet Biondi

JanetJanet Biondi is an artist who embraces nature and color with her natural talent. A New England native, Janet has been working as a professional artist since 1982. For several years she focused her work exclusively on marine mammals, exhibiting in galleries nationwide and showing with the foremost artists in her genre. Today her focus is on landscape and wildlife subjects.

"I consider painting as my way of bringing more beauty into the world. People say they feel a sense of calmness when viewing my art which helps me to feel that I’m actually making a difference in people’s lives. For a moment they are transported out of their existing reality and brought into a place of reflection and contemplation. I enjoy experimenting with color, pushing the limits a bit to get a sense of vibrancy that may not really exist in nature but that is still appealing to the eye. The challenge of going beyond realism and creating an image that still registers as ‘real’ is exciting to me."

Janet’s work has been published and distributed by Island Heritage Collection of Honolulu and she is the illustrator of the award winning children’s book, “D is for Dolphin”. The book received many reviews including those from actors Steve Allen, William Shatner, Lloyd Bridges, animal activist/actress Betty White, and musicians, Phil Collins and Paul Winter. Janet’s work has been collected internationally and is included in the private collections of singer/songwriters, Graham Nash and David Crosby.

Exhibition credits among others include: Consecutive annual juried shows at the New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain, Connecticut; the International Mystic Maritime Museum Exhibition in Mystic Connecticut; consecutive biannual American Cetacean Society Symposium shows in Monterey, California; several one woman gallery shows throughout the 1980’s and most recently an award for her pastel piece entitled, “On the McCloud”, at the North Valley Art League National Show in Redding, California.

Currently, Biondi is painting landscape and wildlife in chalk pastel and oil on canvas. She reproduces her work in the form of matted prints, notecards and archivally produced giclee prints. Her work can also be viewed at “The Gallery” in Mt Shasta.
